CAO HANDBOOK ENTRY 2017

An access route is an alternative study route that may lead to your
original programme of study.
Some programmes don’t have access routes but offer three and four-
year options based on the applicant's results in the NSC and in selection
tests. These programmes are indicated by ‘3/4 yrs’ in the Programme
Choice List under ‘duration’.
Finding out what else is available
If you have access to the Internet, you will find lists of available
programmes and their entry requirements on our website
If you have not been selected for any of your choices,
the CAO can help with information about programmes that you may
qualify for.
Contact the CAO on 031 268 4444 or Share Call 0860 860 CAO/
0860 860 226. If there is something else you would like to apply for,
submit a Change of Mind request form to
or
fax it to 086 622 8833. This form can be downloaded from
or call us on 0860 860 226 to request that a form be
sent to you.
Institutions with places to fill may contact you directly
Private colleges and other institutions request details of applicants who
may be interested in studying with them. You may be approached to see
if you are interested in a particular programme.
Mid-year entry point
Some programmes have a second semester (mid-year) intake of
students during the year. You will find this information under ‘entry term’
in the Programme Choice List on pages 30-138 or on the CAO website
. TVET colleges also have trimester entry for Nated (‘N’)
programmes and skills programmes.
Extending your application forward to next year
You will be allowed to extend your 2017 application into 2018 provided
you complete a Change of Mind Request Form (see page 183) which
must reach us by 31 March 2017. Thereafter you will need to make a
new application.
If you have been ‘regretted’ for any of your choices, check the entry
requirements before applying to the same programmes again.
