13. Making Your Application
Ways you can apply:
1.
Online (preferred)
2. Completing an original Application Form and submitting it by
email, fax, or post, or hand deliver to our offices (see page 4 for
address and directions).
3. Downloading an Application Form from our website and
submitting it by email, fax, or post, or hand deliver to our offices
(see page 4 for address and directions).
Online application and/or downloadable
application form
You can apply online or print a form from our website
by selecting 'Apply'. After completing your personal details, you
will be given the option of continuing with the online application OR
printing an Application Form.
If you choose to continue with the online application, follow the
steps below to complete your online application:
Step 1:
Enter your next of kin information, school details and exam
type (NSC) and exam number if you have this already.
Step 2:
Enter or select the programme choices you want to apply for.
Programme codes can be obtained from the CAO Handbook or under
the ‘Programmes’ link on the CAO website.
Step 3:
Enter your ‘Study History’ if you have previously studied at a
higher education institution and your student number if you know it.
Step 4:
Check the ‘Summary of Your Application.’ Once you are
satisfied that your information is correctly reflected, click on the
‘Process My Application’ button.
Step 5:
Click on ‘Download Additional CAO Information’ to download
Apply early. Don’t wait until you have your Grade 12 results.The CAO
accepts applications from 1 March for entry in the following year.
Ensure that you click on ‘Process My Application’ once you
have checked your information.
the declaration, whichmust be completed by yourself and your parent/
guardian (if you are under the age of 18) and your school principal (if
you are still at school) and returned to CAO with the required certified
documents indicated on the declaration.
Step 6:
Make payment online by clicking on ‘Pay Now by Credit Card’
or pay at your nearest store that accepts Easypay payments. Your
unique Easypay number is reflected on your declaration.
