How to deal with a school report
• Remember this report is only a brief communication
between school and home. For further information,
contact the school.
• Discuss the causes of a bad report with your child
before deciding on further action.
• Avoid large rewards depending on this report. The offer
of a large reward creates tension, which leads to poor
performance.
• Praise always goes a long way. Look for things to praise
and then do so unconditionally.
• If your child has worked hard, it must be frustrating to be
told to do still better next time.
• Never compare your child's results to those of others.
• Encourage your child to be self-critical about bad
examination results.
