Financial aid
Each institution has its own policies in respect of financial aid and
bases its decisions on means tests, which are carried out to assess
an applicant's ability to pay.
If you are applying for financial aid, each institution to which you
are applying will require you to complete the relevant financial aid
application form and provide documentary evidence of your family’s
income and dependents (tax returns, pay slips, sworn affidavits, etc.).
You should start collecting this so that it is ready when you are asked
for it.
Tick the box on the form if you think you qualify and wish to be
considered for financial aid.

If you are a first-time applicant to study at
Durban University
of Technology (DUT)
in 2016, (current Grade 12 or other)
and you require NSFAS funding, you must apply online at
(Only DUT applicants may apply online. All
other university applicants must contact the university to which
they are applying).
•
The
University of KwaZulu-Natal
will send you an application
for a student loan if they offer you a place with provisional
funding. This funding will only be confirmed once all the relevant
documents have been received.
•
Mangosuthu University of Technology
and the
University
of Zululand
will wait until you are registered and have started
studying before awarding bursary loans.
